  • I know, and that's my point. I'm not saying that it isn't unfair that illegals are taking the low-end jobs. I also don't disagree with your point that ideally these jobs would be held by legal citizens. In fact, the only problem with your argument is reality.

  • To Tired of saving the world, I totally agree with you about harsh punishment for companies who hire illegal immigrants. However, any illegal immigrant working with their hands making more than $60,000 a year is the exception, not the rule.

  • I can sort of understand the position that illegal immigrants deserve to be deported, but what I DON'T get is how a disproportionate number of them having AIDS is "just another reason" to kick them out.

  • Well, actually, according to the most recent polls (2008), gay marriage is actually supported in California by a slim majority, but even if this weren't the case, America's never been a true "majority of the people" nation from the very beginning.

  • It all comes down to being able to give consent. This is why we consider interracial marriages, marriages between people of different religions, marriages between a 25 year old and a 55 year old to all be valid. They are all of age to be able to give informed consent, and so can gays.
